The process

Farm Farm coffee

We partner with small farms.

Coffee leaves one family farm and lands on another. We buy from growers we know by name, and roast a few hundred feet from where the cows still come home.

Learn

Their families, their farming practices.

Before we buy a single bag, we learn how the coffee was grown. The altitude, the varietals, the season that shaped it, and the people who worked it.

Source

Cultivation, climate, history.

We buy from the farms rather than through brokers, so more of what you pay stays with the family that grew it. In Colombia we buy directly through the A coffee family, a network of sustainable small family farms. We partner with growers across Africa, Indonesia, and Central America, so watch for our seasonal varieties as they change.

Roast

Roasting is a response.

A roast answers what the farm already did. We work in small batches in the old milk house, reading each lot as it comes in rather than running it to a schedule.

Frequently asked

Sourcing, visiting, shipping, and subscriptions.

Where does Milk House Roastery source its coffee?

We buy directly from small family farms rather than through brokers, partnering with growers across Africa, Indonesia, and Central America. In Colombia we buy through the A coffee family, a network of sustainable small family farms. Origins rotate as each harvest season ends, so the lineup changes through the year.

Where is the roastery located?

Milk House Roastery is on a working family farm in Marcellus, New York, at the corner of Stump and NW Townline Rd. It is roughly five minutes from Marcellus village, eleven minutes from Skaneateles, and twenty three minutes from Syracuse.

When are you open?

In-store hours are Friday 9 to 2 and Saturday and Sunday 9 to noon. You can order online any time and pick up on the farm whenever suits you, though refrigerated items need to be collected during in-store hours.

Do you ship coffee?

Yes. Bags of coffee ship anywhere, and because they are shelf stable the cold brew cans ship dry as well. Refrigerated items are pickup only, on the farm during in-store hours.

Can I get the beans ground?

Every coffee is sold as whole bean or ground, and you choose the grind on the product page before adding to cart. Whole bean keeps its flavour longer, so it is the better pick if you brew more than one way.

Do you offer a coffee subscription?

Yes. You can set a delivery schedule and adjust or pause it at any time. Roaster’s Choice is the simplest way in: we pick the coffee by hand each time, which is a good way to work through the rotating origins.
